Energy Medicine
Energy Medicine involves supporting or
correcting the body's energy flow
to enhance mood, life energy and stamina.
It may be used to help with acute or chronic distresses, and has been
helpful in relieving
headaches, PMS, jet-lag, that 2 pm low-energy time many experience. It
can give a boost to your overall energy,
renewing enthusiasm for life
and lifting dread of challenges.
The basic premise underlying Energy Medicine is that life stressors,
trauma, situations not in alignment with your highest good and
conditioning affect your body, emotions, mind. These can
affect
your
attitude about life, your ability to handle additional stressors and
your ability to fully engage in daily
activities. Using simple techniques to align your body's energy, you
can
feel more present in your daily life and experience more ease
in moving forward toward your dreams.
Energy Medicine is a way of empowering you to take care of yourself.
Whether you use it as a stand-alone technique or in conjunction with
medical care, it provides tools you can use on a daily (or minute to
minute) basis to help yourself feel better.
Below is a description of Heart-Centered Tapping, a quick and
easy way to get you back into balance through giving
attention to one point in your body.
Heart-Centered Tapping
Heart-Centered Tapping is a simple tool to
bring
you back to your energetic center. It is known by other names as Thymus
Thump, the Tarzan Thump.
The thymus gland is in the center of your chest, behind your sternum,
about 2 to 3 inches below the collarbone. You may feel a slight lump in
that area.
Tap gently with your fingertips for 20 to 30 seconds.
You may choose to repeat affirmations such as "I am safe," "All is
good," as you tap.
Heart Centered Tapping can
- help you be more present
- boost your immune system
- balance your body's energy
- bring a sense of ease and
tranquility
- move you into a place of your
own power
- bring you back to your heart
as center and help you move, act, make decisions from a caring,
compassionate place
If pressing on the thymus is painful, that
can
mean it needs attention. You may prefer to rub or gently press rather
than tap the area.
John Diamond, Life Energy author (see below), says that the thymus
gland controls the body's life energy. Indeed, the Greek word thymos
means "life energy."
The thymus is most active in childhood, as its largest in puberty, and
becomes smaller in adulthood, later life.
Because the thymus gland is energetically linked to the heart, people
sometimes get ill when they experience heart-ache. Doing heart centered
tapping at times of stress, loss or confusion can help keep you
healthy.
