Life After Trauma

The Birth Your Life® Life After Trauma program is designed to help you reclaim your life, enthusiasm, joy and trust after a loss or betrayal or injury or illness.

Trauma comes in many forms. And coping is as individual as you are.

Many people try to cope in ways that ultimately do harm and do not lead to resolution of the trauma--eating problems, substance abuse, unhealthy relationships, workaholism, poor self-esteem, resolving oneself to a life of littleness and pain.

The work may deal with many aspects of what happened to you as well as what you seek for your future. The work will allow you to:
  • address the grief
  • resolve the trauma
  • gain skills for healthy stress management
  • do reparative work towards healing developmental passages that were damaged or thwarted
  • increase self-esteem
  • address avoidance issues
  • address fears of re-traumatization.



Trauma

Trauma is an experience that overwhelms the coping capacity of an individual.

Trauma may come from your own experience, intergenerational or community.

Trauma may result from abuse, accidents, surgeries. It may occur in relationship endings, parental divorce or death, growing up in a family where one of more members experienced mental or physical illness or addiction.

Trauma can be passed to you as part of your intergenerational legacy. In particular, children and grandchildren and even further generations of Holocaust survivors, slaves, refugees, veterans, prisoners of war can carry the anxiety, fears, expectation of mistreatment and distrust that their ancestors held. Descendants of those who have experienced abuse, poverty and neglect can live in the residual unfinished trauma of those before them.



Approach

My approach to Life after Trauma is compassionate, caring, supportive and non-traumatizing.

My approach is relational, somatic, gentle, client-centered, and compassionate

a combination of three approaches
  • Energy Psychology (TAT, ThetaHealing and/or Birth Your Life)
  • Rosen Method Bodywork
  • Energizing Routines
You may choose to focus on one or two of these.
    • TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique)
    • ThetaHealing
    • BYL (Birth Your Life Energetic Healing)


About Paula and Birth Your Life

I have been in the healing arts for over 30 years. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 40547) in California and (LMFT 7892) in South Carolina, a Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology (DCEP), a TAT® Trainer, a ThetaHealing® Instructor, a Birth Your Life® Energetic Healing Instructor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a practitioner of Rosen Method Bodywork and BioMagnetism, a Certified Transformational Coach, a yoga teacher and a minister. I have a long-time meditation practice.

Birth Your Life has been developed out of my passion for helping others recover from trauma and claim and live their lives to their fullest capacity.

I work with individuals and groups in the Lowcountry, SC, and elsewhere via zoom, phone or Skype.
